Can’t see the wood for the trees

We spent last week in the highlands of Scotland, and it rained everyday Everyday we got up to the sound of rain lashing the window panes. The beautiful views we had come to see were not there. All we could see was clouds and mist. We knew that the views were there, we had brought the postcards, awesome views of loch and mountains. Loch Linnhe was out there, the mountains with there rugged, beautiful , breath taking peaks.

I stood at the window frustrated and angry. We both needed the break. The pressure of life had taken its tole. We both felt burnt out and tired.

As a child I had often heard my mother say “ They can’t see the wood for the trees “ we cloud our minds daily with unwelcome thoughts, worry fill our minds. We struggle with the problems and store up even more worry's. If only we could uncluttered our minds and restore peace.

The lochs and mountains of our lives will always be there but its how we deal with it that matters. Do we see the rain and the mist ? Or do we see beyond it, to it lifting, and the sun shining through !

Come to me all who labour and are heavy laden and overburdened and I will give you rest. I will ease and relive and refresh you and your souls.
